chicken anyone?

overnight is snowed another inch or two of very dry snow. i used the Yaktrax just to be sure i didn’t fall on my arse. it was a balmy 8 degrees this morning with a biting northwest wind. i headed north, into the wind, up university avenue.

up past UW-W i was running in the street and saw not one but two snow plows staggered side by side coming right at me. looking left i had a large snow bank to hurdle to the sidewalk. looking right, an equally large leap to the median strip. only a 200 meters ahead of me was an opening in the median strip for cars to make turns. i did my best "michael johnson" and bolted headlong at the oncoming snow plows. i can only imagine what the drivers thought of me.

heading home, i was at the very south portion of university ave and saw a snowplow coming barreling downhill on a street to my left. not wanting to chance fate twice in the same morning i quickly ran to the other side of the road so i wouldn’t get squished.

all told, i ended up with 8 miles at about 8:20 pace.
