NYC Day 2

after the conference and working a bit via VPN, we headed down to Broadway to see Phantom of the Opera. it was very cool to see the performance. i’m not a huge fan of musicals but i can appreciate the effort and talent of the performers. after the show, we hit ESPNZone in Times Square to watch game 5 of the NLCS. after a burger and fries, i waddled back to the hotel for some shut eye.

i woke up this morning a little later so the sun would be up when i was out running. i headed out the door of the hotel without my map (tucked into a ziploc bag) because i knew where i was going. once in the park, i headed clockwise and passed through the NYC marathon finish the "correct" way. there’s a nasty uphill in that last half mile that’ll likely feel much larger after 25 miles have passed.

i kept following the runners ahead of me and found myself running on a bridge that was being resurfaced. funny, i didn’t remember seeing that yesterday. oh well. after another mile, i was running back through the finish line of the NYC marathon. ugh, i ended up following an inner loop of Central Park rather than making a left and heading north. so much for not needing a map.

after heading north, i noticed the resivior which i hadn’t seen yesterday. there’s a 1.5 mile running path around it that i might take tomorrow morning. i headed up around the north part of the park then made my way back down to the south part of the park and headed back to the hotel for a hot shower.

(67 minutes – approximately 7.75 miles)
