hamster miles and TGIF

thursday morning i just didn’t answer the alarm clock and opted to sleep in. i brought along shoes/clothes to run on the treadmill after work but neglected to pack the ipod. nonetheless, i ran 6 miles in under 46 minutes. the first/last miles were warm ups. the middle 4 miles started at 7.5 mph and got kicked up .1 mph every quarter mile up to 9.1 mph.

this morning i got out and ran 10 miles at slightly over 8 minute pace. temps were in the lower 20’s and there wasn’t much wind. my stomach was problematic during the effort…but i managed to git-r-done.

long time no blog

after running at the pettit on friday night, i headed out saturday afternoon for 7.1 miles. sunday morning i woke up and didn’t feel all that great, which led to a day off from running. monday wasn’t any better as my oldest daughter (Jade) was up with "flu" symptoms through the night. i still felt achy and not up for a run.

tuesday afternoon i did get out and ran 6 miles at 7:50 pace. temps were in the mid-30’s and much of the snow had melted. i still didn’t feel 100% but was going stir-crazy from not running.

wednesday morning i got out for another 6 miles at 8:00 pace. temps were in the mid-20’s and anywhere there was puddles yesterday afternoon had turned to a sheet of ice. admittedly, i’m feeling closer to 100% after a decent night of sleep.

long story short, Jade came down with the croup virus. turns out that adults exposed to the same virus exhibit cold like symptoms…which likely explains how i felt on sunday and monday.

friday night is alright

with morning temps still in the negative range, i opted to run indoors on friday night at the pettit center. i met up with dana, who had started running 45 minutes before i got there. we ran together for about 65 minutes or so, which helped both of us get in the miles. he then headed home and i grabbed the ipod to distract me from the tedious effort of running in circles. i ended up with 2 hours and headed to Qdoba for a steak quesadilla.

MTD – 132

hamster miles reloaded

morning temps on thursday were back into the negative range…with wind chills even worse. instead of bundling up for another frozen morning constitutional, i opted to hit the treadmill for 8 miles @ 8:15 pace after work.
