bug in the eye

thursday, for the 2nd day in a row, i got a tiny bug in my eye. not pleasant at all. i’m going to start wearing my clear lens oakleys to avoid it. regardless, i ended up with 7 miles in just under an hour.

i took the day off from running today. i’m aiming for a long run tomorrow morning which should put me into the mid to high 30’s for miles for the week.

wednesday wobble

i headed out on the glacial drumlin trail this morning and spotted three young deer on the trail. they scattered off into the woods when i was still 200 meters away from them. running this time of this time of year is a mixed bag. there is daylight when i’m out there and the temps are much more comfortable. the downside is the swarms tiny black flies that collect on your body and invariably one gets in your eye.

i ended up with 7 miles this morning in just under 58 minutes. it was an out & back effort, 30 minutes out and slightly under 28 minutes on the way back. temps were in the mid 60’s and it was a bit humid due to some light rain we had overnight and into the morning hours.

coming back again

on both monday and tuesday mornings i managed 7 miles in about an hour. (8:30 per mile pace) monday marked 800 miles for the YTD and tuesday marked my 100th day of running in 2007. for the year to date, i’m running on average a little over 8 miles a day nearly five days out of the week.

the past two days have also seen the reemergence of some tendinitis in my right achilles tendon. i’ll have to pay closer attention to it in order to avoid months of downtime (like in 2003 & 2005) to let it heal up.

one fast humanoid

this morning i headed out on the glacial drumlin trail for 7 miles. on the way back home, a bicyclist passed me and exclaimed "you’re one fast humanoid!" stunned, all i could say was "thanks." i managed to tally 33 miles for the week on six days of running. i’m still moving very slow but at least i’m out and about.

a friend from work pointed out that "drafting bill" from the Racine 30K was at a the Lake Geneva 10K and finished 2nd overall…30 seconds behind the men’s overall winner. Of significance was the fact that the overall winner of the 10K race went to a woman by more than 2 minutes!

spring in wisconsin

what a difference a day makes. tuesday, i ran 5 miles at 5AM with the temps in the 70’s. this morning i ran for an hour (just short of 7 miles) with temps in the mid 40’s!!

after a few miles this morning, i could feel my legs coming back…slowly. i’m still running awfully slow. it’s definitely not the lungs…totally the legs. i’ll just have to be patient and let things happen at its own pace.
