may wrap up
it’s hard to believe that it’s already the end of may. i ran seven miles at 8:20 pace this morning with temps in the low 70’s. for the month, i covered 125 miles on 20 days of running averaging a little over 6 miles each day when i ran. i guess it’s not too bad considering i took most of the first half of the month off from running to recover from my 26.2M/30K efforts.

wednesday wobble
this morning temps were in the upper 60’s and it was more humid than it has been. i headed out and back on the glacial drumlin trail for a total of 7 miles at 8:15 pace. honestly, it was a nondescript morning constitutional. sometimes that’s just the way it is.
pep in my step
monday morning i mustered seven miles in a little more than 58 minutes. admittedly, the heineken and wine the night before slowed me a step or two.
today i ran another seven miles toward town on the glacial drumlin trail. on the way out, it took me a shade more than 29 minutes. coming back, a shade under 27 minutes. overall, i was slightly less than 57 minutes for about 8:07 pace.
the past few days have been perfect to run in. temps in the 50’s to 60’s and low humidity. so far this week i’ve got 21 miles in. i’m aiming to get into the low 40’s with a long run of 12 miles or so.
sunday seven
i headed out on the glacial drumlin trail this morning and saw a big turtle along the side of the trail. it seems every year at this time the turtles come up from the swampy areas and hang out on the side of the trail. i kept moving along, making the turn at 3.5 miles at slightly under 30 minutes. i had the wind at my back on the way home which i covered in about 28 minutes. overall, it ended up at 7 miles at a little less than 8:20 pace.
morning sunshine
i got a later start this morning and left the house at about 8:30AM. i chose a loop route that took me downtown then back on the glacial drumlin trail. while running through bethesda park, i came up on a group of canadian geese and their offspring. geese are especially nasty when protecting their children so i gave them plenty of room. overall, i did nine miles in a little over 73 minutes which was a little under 8:10 pace. for the week, i ended up with 37 miles in 5 days.
