good fortune

as luck would have it, i’ve managed to enter the local North Face Endurance Challenge for free. another local runner (Rachel) had been given the opportunity to participate (for free) but already had committed to running the Fox Cities Marathon. she posted the entry as a give-away on her blog and i was fortunate enough to be the recipient. (thanks again Rachel!!)

i decided to enter the half-marathon event as that’s likely the distance i am best suited for with the training i’ve gotten in. the event also offers a 50M, 50K, marathon, 10K and 5K, in case you’re interested. i participated in the 50K in 2009, only to be handicapped by a splitting migraine. ideally, i would have enjoyed a shot at 50K redemption but that will have to wait until another year.

my training so far this month has gone alright. i got in a two hour run this past weekend which was slowed by high humidity. thankfully it was cloudy that morning otherwise i would have been even slower. i’m still averaging about forty miles per week and getting out to run on 5 or 6 days per week. later this month i may still sneak in a road half marathon as a tune-up for the North Face event. that said, i may also opt to just go for a long run instead.

MTD – 72 miles (10 days)
YTD – 990 miles
Odometer – 32,096 miles
