weekend rewind

saturday morning i was a bit slow to roll out the door but i managed to run 9 miles in a few ticks less than 71 minutes. sunday morning was much more comfortable weather-wise and i ran 6 miles in a few ticks more than 48 minutes. this morning i opted to catch a bit more shut-eye.

congrats to Haile Gebrselassie and his World Best 2:03:59 at the Berlin Marathon. (too bad American media isn’t covering the story) his average pace? 4:43 per mile. that’s downright astonishing.

here’s an update of my weekly mileage breakdown in preparation for marathon #20…

wk 1 – 52 miles
wk 2 – 50 miles
wk 3 – 46.5 miles
wk 4 – 54 miles
wk 5 – 57 miles
wk 6 – 56.25 miles
wk 7 – 45 miles
wk 8 – 70 miles
wk 9 – 30 miles
wk 10 – 45 miles
wk 11 – 30 miles
wk 12 – 6 miles (so far)

cycle-to-date = 541.75

admittedly, i was aiming for 600 miles for the cycle and will likely end up a little more than 550. i think i’ve got enough miles in me to run a decent marathon. from my effort at Al’s Run, i’ve got enough speed to carry me through a marathon. sunday is race day and at this point the forecast looks favorable.
